The Marketing Director will be self-directed, self-disciplined, high-energy, forward and creative thinking with high ethical standards. He or she must possess strong leadership skills, self-efficacy; planning skills, organization, plan execution skills and a persuasive and effective communicator.
Skill factors include interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills. The individual will possess an understanding of character traits of individuals and what’s important to them as well as an understanding of group dynamics, which includes group behavior.
Multitasking skills are essential to the job, as is the ability to perform in a work environment where there are distractions. The incumbent must be clear thinking and be able to prioritize while working in an environment of constant change.
Computer skills and administrative acumen are required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business or equivalent. An advance degree in business is preferred. A keen understanding in business practices and concepts is required. Knowledge of business modeling and financial modeling – including budget and expense controls, is essential to the job.
Experience: 2-4 years sales management in a marketing environment is desirable. Goal setting and identifying the means to attain them is required. Experience in development, maintenance and application of an employee reward system would be advantageous.

Duties
The Marketing Director is responsible for planning and implementation of sales and marketing activities, which lead to attainment of corporate growth and profit goals and objectives. The individual will plan and implement marketing strategies consistent with higher order goals and objectives, including public relations strategies. She or he will maintain administrative and relevant reporting and planning systems.
The individual will develop and maintain corporate image and reputation, as well as devising and protection of company brands and intellectual property. She or he will plan and manage internal communication and awareness of corporate direction, corporate sense of purpose, corporate goals and objectives. He or she will address needs for ongoing external communication, including public relation needs.
She or he will contribute to formulation of strategy and policies and will manage sales and marketing resources consistent with agreed to and approved budgets. As well, he or she will devise and implement promotional material and video initiatives that are consistent with SMS’s sales and marketing positioning strategies.
The Marketing Director will recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff consistent with corporate policies, procedures, and employment law.
